Watch: South African Male Couple Wed In Traditional Ceremony



South Africans Tshepo Cameron Modisane and Thoba Calvin Sithol committed to each other in a ceremony combining Zulu and Tswana traditions front of 200 supportive members of both their families, making their union as men the first publicly documented occasion of its type in Africa. The couple choose to formalise their relationship after dating for three years. South Africa is a Country Peep the ceremony and my two pence after the jump:





Whether you are pro or anti gay marriage, images like those those seen in the video above help progress the dialogue of understanding that society seems to be showing in recent times. Rather than the freakshow conservatives the world over would like people to picture, the ceremony simply highlights what should be and in years to come will be a social norm; two people in a commited relationship formalising their union in front of the people that matter most, in a manner than acknowledges their heritage.
